There are a lot of people who plant bonsai trees with some preferring to keep the trees outside while others nurture them in their houses. It is common to have a bonsai tree growing outside but growing this tree inside can prove to be a hard job without a guide especially for beginners.

There are different kinds of indoor bonsai trees such as the Hawaiian Umbrella Trees which are easy to grow and thus the reason as to why they are preferred by novices. These trees are not all that sensitive and can live in either low or high lighting conditions. There is also the Golf ball umbrella which is beautiful and hassle free. Flowering white Jasmine favors light and humidity and is a very good indoor bonsai tree. The willow leaf ficus has a resemblance to the larger willow tree and requires minimum care. For beginners it is recommended that they try their hand first on sago palms, aralias, bush cherry, fukien tea, serrissa and bougainvillea.

For an indoor bonsai to stay healthy, miniature and beautiful, proper care is required around the clock. The proper growth of bonsai trees depends on quite a number of factors, the first one being the care it receives and where it is placed during summer and winter seasons. During summers you can take the tree outside and place it where it can receive sufficient sunlight. During winter, it is advisable to keep the plant indoors and in shallow trays filled with water and gravel which assists in providing moisture to the bonsai tree.

With the indoor bonsai trees you will only need to pinch and trim the tree to keep it from growing larger. The pinching and the trimming are necessary so as to keep the plant’s miniature growth. The new growth should be pinched and trimmed up to the farthest point of safety. Leave a little of new growth for the purpose of sustaining the health of the plant. Bonsai trees grown indoors will have different growth rates. You should determine the growth rate of each plant so that you can adjust the trimming periods accordingly.

To maintain the good health of indoor bonsai trees, you should make a point of repotting the plant according to instructions for your particular variety. This is to prevent the suffocation of the plant once the roots have filled the pot. As mentioned, the trees grow at different rates and you should examine the roots in a one year period so as to know when the root system becomes pot bound. The repotting will give the root system space to grow and allow the plant to grow in a healthy condition.
