BONSAI ACCESSORIES - You need them
If you or anyone you know is a Bonsai addict, then there is no doubt you will be looking at Bonsai accessories whether for a gift or just a fancy for yourself. This can be a very general entity as there are a million things a Bonsai grower could use or want, and there is a million things to match their desires.
Bonsai accessories come in tools, earth preparation, dishes, pots, books, and miniature pieces for dish decoration, aprons, and more. Individual tools are available, they are not cheap and so a good pair of miniature shears would be gratefully accepted as a gift. A list of general accessories include:
Starter kits – these usually contain a set of tools that you will need to start growing and maintaining your Bonsai. These can be bought individually and the basic sets usually only include the bare necessities.
Bonsai shears – a specialty item, you can’t prune a Bonsai tree with regular shears! You could use scissors but it doesn’t work quite the same.
Pruners and trimmers – this is what you need to trim back the old leaves or those you wish to remove from your tree.
Stands and turntables – these come in very handy when you are working on your tree, you don’t have to keep picking the pot or dish up to turn it around. In addition, you can get a better perspective when checking for evenness.
Watering equipment – this doesn’t require much just a watering can with a thin nozzle and a spray bottle.
Bonsai wire – this is an important part of shaping your tree, it is said aluminum is the best to use for bend ability and easier removal when you have achieved your shape.
Rakes and Tweezers – these are used when you want to rake through the roots, it is good to be very careful when doing this so as not to damage the root system
Other Bonsai accessories include things such as gardening gloves, tool aprons, fertilizer cups, hemp brooms, drainage netting and trays and so much more. The most appealing and amazing accessories are those little miniature figurines and buildings. They are called mud men and mud women. There are boats, buildings and many other detailed pieces, they are very inexpensive and would just add that final touch to your bonsai garden.
Some of the most beautiful designed plant dishes are specifically made for Bonsai. The designs are oriental in most cases and suit the style of the bonsai perfectly. So among the best Bonsai accessories are the dishes. They come in such great shapes and some with uniquely embossed designs. Others are flat and made from ceramic in bright glazed colors that would suit a beautiful flowering bonsai. The large flat pottery trays are perfect for building a unique bonsai garden. They come large enough to include designer pieces such as the Mud men figurines. You can layer them with white crystal rocks, or build a garden of whatever you fancy.
